Newly Qualified Social Worker

  • Salary band: £36,648 - £39,186
  • Closing: 09 May 2024

Child abuse, exploitation and neglect don't just crush young lives, they destroy promising futures. Before they even get chance to be lived. At Torbay Children’s Services, we’re approaching this complex and damaging issue with a sophisticated and single-minded new approach.

Join us as a Newly Qualified Social Worker and you'll part of a team on a mission. We commit to providing you with an Assessed and Supported Year in Employment with the emphasis on support.

And it will be tailored to you. We'll closely identify your learning needs through your learner agreement, following the completion of your qualifying social work degree. We'll also review your Knowledge and Skills Statements to ensure we target those areas you need support in most.

We appreciate that as an ASYE Social Worker you'll be in a situation where you ‘don’t know what you don’t know’ - and that doing the job, joining the team and getting involved in casework are the only ways to find out. So, going forward, you'll be able to review your learning needs every four and six months. Our reflective supervision model will give you time to think, and regular formal and informal feedback will help you become a high-calibre social worker. Add to that our first-rate learning and development opportunities, and no wonder our ASYE programme was described by a member of a cohort as the ‘best place to work’.

And that's not all. We have established Joint Preceptorship that will enable you to access four days of learning and development with newly qualified health professionals such as health visitors and midwives. This will prove invaluable in you developing quality multi-agency working practices. We know from our health colleagues that this approach doesn’t happen anywhere else in the country.

Also on offer is cutting-edge technology to support you in your role, and if this makes you nervous, don’t worry, there is IT training on hand to support this area too.

So if you're looking for a hugely supportive, ambitious and determined place to start your social work career, you'll find it all in Torbay.
