In addition, you can look forward to a range of broader benefits:

Pension

The Local Government Pension Scheme (LGPS) is a valuable part of the pay and reward package for employees working in local government. Visit www.lgpsmember.org for more information.

Annual leave

As a full-time employee, you’ll be entitled to a minimum of 25 days’ annual leave plus Bank Holidays. This rises by one additional day’s leave each year, on the anniversary of your employment, to a total of 30 days as a full-time employee. You'll receive a further day’s leave after 10 years' service.

Subsidised car parking

Staff car parking permits are issued to Torbay council staff members and are for use in Torbay council pay and display car parks. Car parks around council offices are plentiful and council staff are able to park each day for a daily fee of either 50 pence (up to 6 hours) or £1. You'll also be able to use your permit, and subsidised rate, at weekends in council car parks throughout Torbay.

Essential car users

If you meet the criteria of our essential car user policy, we will pay you an enhanced mileage allowance.

Colleague benefits and discounts

MyLifestyle is our staff benefits scheme. Here you'll be able to access discounts and cashback on a whole host of popular brands plus offers from local retailers. MyLifestyle also includes the Cycle2Work scheme and Eyecare Vouchers.

Counselling

You will have access to a free, confidential counselling service, should you need it at any point.

Coaching

You will have access to a confidential coaching service.

Flexible working

We offer a range of flexible friendly policies including flexible working and a career break scheme.

Employee Referral Programme

Although we have a robust and effective recruitment strategy, which means that we attend job fairs, university open days and the like, we know that our most successful recruiters are our people. We want to recognise the power and persuasiveness of your word-of-mouth once you are a Torbay employee.

If you recommend Torbay to friends, former colleagues and contacts, and they get a Social Work job with us, we will give you £1,000 (split over two payments) to say thank you.

Please Note: The amounts payable will be dependent on your specific post and subject to the rules of each scheme. These rules are available to you on request.
